Stein & Goldstein Carousel Horse
This substantial figure was carved in the "Indian Pony" style by the Brooklyn based carousel-carving studio, Stein and Goldstein. Known for aggressive looking horses (many think of them as "Wildly frenzied", the studio's best-known work is the Carousel in New York City's Central Park. Indeed, one only need to look at this Indian Pony to see the noted similarities between it and several of beautiful figures that have been ridden by NYC children for the better part of a century. This intricately carved figure features a fish scale blanket and feathers on the "romance side" (the side facing out on a carousel) and is in multiple layers of park paint.
Dimensions: 45" x 52"
